Support File package for FilmRedux – Now Universal
by st373n on Jan.24, 2009, under FilmRedux
In response to requests for 10.4 support, in the filmredux support package a release is now available that supports both 10.4 and 10.5 on ppc or Intel macs. If you have already got the support pack installed then you don’t need to download this as there are no changes to its contents other than building it as a Universal Binary of libfaac. If you need the universal build grab it here

I am using the latest support package and the latest version of FilmRedux (1.0.2c) but I still get the following error:
«class taVI» "advancedvideobox" of «class tabV» "advancedbox" of window "advanced" doesn’t understand the switchText message. (-1708)
I am using "Convert To: iPod Touch" & "Best For: iPod Screen" – there were no changes other than that made in the settings.
Any ideas?!
Thanks for your great work!!!

Setting those options works fine for me.
What OS version are you running?
Did you perhaps set an option in the advanced settings and then undo it?

No, I did not. Here’s another issue: Starting FilmRedux, entering “Advanced Setting” and clicking on “Clear All” gives the following error message:
Can’t set «class butT» “fitonoff” of «class taVI» “advancedaudiobox” of «class tabV» “advancedbox” of window “advanced” to false. (-10006)

Thanks Hoppe, Yep i found the fitonoff error and thats now fixed, i also have clear all and save settings working now but i have not upload that build yet.
Still cannot generate the error your having with iPod touch, what type of input file are you giving it?

Well, I just did a quick test and it seems it does not matter. I have tried MPG, WMV, XVID AVI and so on… it’s always the same result. It also doesn’t matter if there are spaces in the path or not…
I have changed the quality setting… same error
I have chosen different “Convert To” devices… same error
I have unchecked H.264… same error
So it seems that currently it does not work at all.
Let me know how I can assist you in finding that bug – shoot me a message on Twitter @mssh
Have a great day!

BTW, I just realized several errors in the console while starting FilmRedux – maybe they are of help:

Thanks for the feedback, the more details I can get are a great help.
OK its looking as if there are differences in the way the applescript.framework works between OS 10.4 and 10.5.
on 10.4.11 I am able to duplicate your errors
on 10.5.6 No error and the file converts
so back to the code….

Well, I’m on 10.5.6! ;o)

Well, it seems like I have been able to locate the bug.
I am on a german system and I just switched my language settings to US… and guess what?! The error has disappeared! *hooray*
But… now I am getting the following message:
ERRORS DURING CONVERSION
Errors prevented every conversion from completing. Select a file in the list and click the Info toolbar button to view the specific error. Click the Show Log button for detailed information.
Do you want me to send you the log output?

ok well thats good to know – guess i need to create some language resources for it.
If you could send the log file that would be great to st373n at the googlemail dot com.
